Alright friends. I have an empty 120 gallon fat boy that I recently moved all my wild discus out of so want to fill it back up with a different species. I’d love to do a pair of lake guatape umbees but don’t think this tank is nearly big enough for a fish or that size. My other idea was growing out some festae and try to get a pair and raise them in this tank or else growing out some Vieja Argentea orrrrrr was thinking of doing a trimac. Really can’t decide. What do you guys think

Your right about the umbees, tank won't be big enough. I think you could do any of the other options you mention though. I like the idea of Argentea, though tank might only work for a wet pet once they get big. Doubt a pair will last in a 4 foot tank. Argentea with some convic dithers might work, and would look cool.

Ya I was thinking of doing just a wet pet for this tank which is why I thought a Trimac would be awesome.

Yeah trimac or Midas for a wet pet... Maybe fh if your that way inclined.

Only thing I'll add is if youre hoping for any tankmates at all go with a GT or JD. All bets are off with amphs or FH. That being said theyre great pets in a single species scenario.

If it was me right now I'd go with a GT and a larger pleco. Or a JD with a group of clown loaches.

I’m going to do either a Trimac get a group or red festae and try to get a pair. Probably just going to do a single wet pet trimac though. Have always wanted one. Already have geo sveni in a tank with wild discus.

I have the same tank just a little bigger 150 gallon. and its best to do a group of small to med size cichlids the 4 ft just never big enough for more than one amp or any tank buster even geos once they are about 4 inches and you have a group of 5 or more you may have issues , id say wet pet is your best bet
