I am purchasing a 120 gallon tank for a steal. It comes with the basic stand and tank w/ lid for $400.00. I am looking into filtration. I currently have a 38 gallon freshwater tank which is now going into this tank. The new tank that im purchasing has a 1-2 inch hold for a wet dry filter. Im debating spending $200 on a wet / dry filter or other alternative i.e a canister. Any ideas?

Currently I have 4 buenos aires tetras, 4 rummynose tetras, 5 glowlight tetras, 1 red tailed shark, a snail, 4 ghost shrimp. Im looking to ad 4-6 denison bards, 2-6 more rummynose tetras.

Ideas? concerns?

sumps are better than canister. you can customize flow and hardly need to change media. also, you can put way more media. do not invest in canister. I am way happier with a sump. I owned both canister and sump.

Don't buy a wet / dry. Make it. There are plenty of design ideas on here.

x2 on making a sump ~

not that hard ... get a nice/easy design ... and save $$$$ to purchase more fish.. lol
