Hello, i need some advice on what cichlids i can stock my 120g tank with. I would appreciate any and all suggestions made. I also need some aquascaping help, i would like to aquascape similar to there natural habitats. I do want more than a single specimen tank, i want somewhat of a community. But not dwarfs, i would like a large cichlid community, by large i meen the cichlids themselves. The tank dimensions are 48"x24"x24". I will be running an undergravel and an Odyssea cfs4 canister filter. Then once i save up a bit more i will be adding additional filtration.Thanks.:)

If you're trying to set it up so it's "busy" I'd go with medium sized cichlids like JD, Green terror, convicts etc. Just because You'll be able to put more of these fish in that tank compared to the larger varieties like Jags and red terrors etc that grow over 18-20" and can be VERY agressive. Some of those fish need 100 gallons all to themselves.

A group of firemouths would be cool (if you're familiar with their behavior and water requirements) and you'd probably have room for some other species too. The medium sized cichlids would also give you more room for driftwood, rockpiles, and stuff like that too IMO

Lots of these medium sized cichlids (not sure about the larger ones) come from slow moving rivers and tributaries in south and central America. SO...this means as far as aquascaping, driftwood/bogwood and rock piles would be perfect. I'm setting up a 90 this weekend, and once its filled I'm going to have a pile of wood at each end and plants in the middle. That set up has worked well for me in the past

Good luck :naughty:
