Hello all, I have been lurking for a while and this is my first post. I am getting back into the hobby after many years away.

I just finished a fishless cycle of a 5' 120 gallon tank. I have a Fluvall FX6 canister filter.

My initial thoughts are a chocolate cichlid, a redhead severum, a firemouth, and an electric blue acara. Maybe a raphael catfish. My tank has several hiding spots and areas separated by large rocks and driftwood.

Does anyone see any potential issues with this plan? I would rather understock than overstock obviously, and I know the chocolate and severum can get large. I don't really have room for a larger tank so this is a forever home, not a grow out tank.

Thanks for the feedback!

IMO, the tank wouldn't be over stocked as noted. Might think of adding a school of large, tough tetras or Danios. A couple of Bristlenoses might be a good cleanup crew.

Thanks. I was considering some zebra danios. And thanks for the tip on the bristlenose.

Look up Buenos Aires Tetras. I've got 12 swimming in my 120, along with a female Red Texas Cichlid, a juvenile FH and a few Firemouths. A very big and tough tetra. One of my favorites.

Stocking sounds fine to me as is. If you wanted to understock in the long run, I'd pick either chocolate or severum.
I'd personally replace the firemouth with something south American. Maybe a group of 3 smaller cichlids like cupido or guianacara. But that's just me. Firemouth would probably work fine too.
Sounds like it will be a nice tank
