Hi Everyone I'm getting a new 120 gallon soon and I'm wondering What to stock It with. I was going to get bichirs for my 75 gallon but decided against it as I had angels and ended up with discus.I'm definitely getting some this time though. I was thinking of getting a polypterus delhezi and a senegalus and maybe another one? Not sure how many I could get.I want to get some decent sized cichlids for the top of the tank though and was wondering what could work with the bichirs?

Thanks.

What is your cichlid plan? Im not good with cichlids but i heard they are some that are aggressive, some will out grow a sen and del and might become snack, some cichlid can bully a poly since polys dont defend themselves.

Not too sure what cichlids too get was thinking maybe an oscar,Severum or a jack Dempsey?

Oscar will out grow the del and sen for sure, idk if the jack dempsey will be to aggressive, but i had a friend that gave me a beat up poly cause of the dempsey's aggression, it had missing fins, missing tail and it had a bad injury in the head that i never cured and end up dying after a week or so.
Severum are a nice choice tho.

kno4te kno4te J jaws7777 twentyleagues twentyleagues i know they have cichlids with polys.

As for the tank, you can put some lower jaws like endlicheri or lapradei, the footing you have is good to house 3-4 lower jaws, but if you want some smaller upper jaws delhezi, palmas complex and sen are a good way to go, you can also look at ornate, teugelsi and weeksii, that the big trio for upper jaws, its really depends on your taste.

Thanks I've seen lots of different species at my lfs so I will have a look at the weekend are there any species I definitely can't keep in my sized tank so I know to ignore them?

Isn't a 4 x 2 tank too small for the larger upper jaws and for lower jaws? I have a 3' x 18" tank and it is definitely going to be too small for the Teug and right now I feel like even my Del is getting close to pushing it for swimming space, and she's only 10.5".

Can't picture it being great to have a 20 inch fish in a tank that small.

I would think it would be better to have more of the smaller UJs. Like Senegal, Delhezi, Polli, Palmas, Mokelembembe....

I think Severums would be a good cichlid choice!

Agre with a couple of lower jaws in that tank its the width of a 180 just smaller on the length. Lower jaws arent as active anye way. Especially if they are cb the tank is fine.

I would skip the cichlids mentioned and go for smaller (med sized) like acaras and such
