120 Gallon Tank Deal?

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum... just a quick (and probably dumb) question...

There's an LFS nearby that sells 120 gallon tank setups for approximately $500 (new). This includes...

-Tank
-Covers
-Lights
-Iron Stand

They also sell the same setup, but substituting a pine stand for the iron stand for about $75 more.

Is this a good deal?

Tell them to throw in a filter and they have a deal. I personally would not go with an iron stand, most of them tend to wobble.

I agree go with a good solid pine stand it spreads the weight of the load evenly this causing NO wobbling.

I've got a 150 on an iron stand it is is firm as can be, no wobble.

I think that is what they go for at lfs around here. So, don't know if it is a deal, but it is about the going price.

You might be able to save some money be doing a diy stand.

Excellent. I really like that tank size... still torn between having a ton of tiny predators vs. having a single huge predator... man... tough choices... lol

I paid 264+tax for 100 gal w/ stand and 2 lights. The lights sucked so I bought some new ones off ebay. I shopped around b4 i bought and that was the best I could fine. Try craigs list you will prolly find alot better deal buying used.

From my perspective in Canada, the is a heck of a deal for a new set up.

The classifieds usually offer a better deal though. It is amazing how many people fork out a ton of dough for a new huge set up-then realize the work and sell it for much less.

I find that if I just watch the local ads here, I can usually pick up tanks for really cheap. If you don't have a preference on the color/look of the stand, I'd go that route long before I went to a LFS.
