In mid october my silver arowana ,Sam, died. Ever since then my 120 just hasnt been the same. I've tried everything but I havent really enjoyed the tank since. Everything hides, it's almost as if the tank is empty. Even the fish that where in the tank with sam -and had personality- now have lost all color and hide all the time. It doesnt help that this big drab empty looking tank is in the middle of my living room. I dont think its anything wrong with water, I have an emperor 350, emperor 400, and a Filstar XP Canister Filter and I do 50% water changes every other week. I tested the water and the ph was 7, amonia was 0ppm, nitrite was 0ppm, and nitrate is 10ppm.

At this point I'm ready to completely redo this whether I have to change it to a planted tank, african cichlids, heck I'll make it a goldfish tank if it makes it enjoyable again. What would you recomend? Anything with personality, color, or both I'll consider. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking of a planted tank but I really like the idea of a single display fish. Any other suggestions?
