So i'm looking to build a 120"x13x20. This is about 146 gallons. So its about the same width and height as a standard 55 but much longer. So tecnically wouldnt the pressure on the glass mainly increase on the ends of the tank? I have built 72x13x20 using 1/4inch plate glass and it worked great. Im thinking about trying the same but going up to 120". The glass safety calculators i have tried all give different numbers and seem unreliable. I will eurobrace the whole tank and have a 5" cross brace every 18 inches. Think it will work ok?

I work for a glass wholesale company and we only carry 1/4 inch glass, so im trying to keep it narrow like a 55 (1/4 glass is used in 55's) but go longer. I get the glass for $50 for a 130x96 sheet, so it will be a very inexpensive build. I cant quite decide what i want to stock it with yet. Im thinking maybe a few silver arrowanas, for a few years, and then move them to the 400 plywood tank im planning.

If you extend the length of the tank, most of the increased perssure is on the ends of the tank. The front and back have increased pressure as well but not nearly as much since the width front to back stays the same.

oh ok well ur doin better then i ....good luck dude i just think if ur goin to do it go wide imo...or save for the 400 ....i got an idea for a 300-400 gallon but its the size of my town house that slows me down .lol

If it went by strictly height, i could build a 60"x60"x15" out of 1/4 inch glass but we know that wouldnt work.
