Hey guys,

New here, long time reader. I've recently finished setting up my 120g (4x2x2), running two XP3s. I'm wondering how to finish off the stocking. Currently:

1x 11" Oscar (rescued on Christmas Eve, had really bad HITH to the point where he was missing much of his tissue around his eyes... he is doing really well considering)

1x 8.5" Vieja (bought as Synspila... looks like a Bifasciatum to me now)

The Vieja grew up with tankmates - a pair of Severums and a pair of Sajica in a 90g, both pairs I ended up selling. Very mild mannered fish. Oscar is the same way.

---

I really don't know which way to go. I'm leaning toward one more decent sized cichlid or a group of smaller ones. Would something like a Parachromis Friedrichsthalli be too much in this 4x2 footprint? I'd like to add something that might bring some liveliness to the tank - the Oscar, is well, an Oscar. The Vieja has always been lazy, even around feeding time. That is something I'd like to change.

Free to any and all suggestions though - or letting me know if I am stocked already and should stick to adding dithers like Silver Dollars.

That's about all you can do in that tank as far as decent size cichlids go, imo that is..

I'd just get some dithers as they'll help bring out a shy fish's personality and show there's nothing to be scared of by being active and out in the open, primarily active in your case..

You can do 4 smaller geos. I have iporangensis and used to have orange heads, both of which where very active and aggressive enough not to get bullied. Of course an oscar and a vieja could make short of them if they wanted to but at least they'll go down swinging.
