I currently have a 120g long, with a longnosed gar and a ornate bichir... The gar is 9in and the bichir is about 6in... Will these fish be compatible in the long run?

Both eat feeders, ghost shrimp, and might be able to convert to worms, raw shrimp.

The gar gets several feet and the ornate gets 18-20". I just sold one that was over 17" and he made a 180 look small.

So I say No. For the short term, sure...but not in the long run.

I'm sorry... Its a Spotted Gar... I was just looking at pics and mine is definitely a Spotted. My cam sucks or I could post pics.

search the post because peple have them toghter fl gar gets about 3ft and the ornate at 2ft, one top water other bottom, go for it because they will grow out toghter.:chillpill:

cam sucks huh those pics are better than any ive tried to take but that looks like a nice spotted gar the gar will probly outgrow the bichir soon and eat him and when there adults the gar will still probly be able to eat the bichir but mabey not i would watch them carfully "ornates are exspensive" but you should be feeding them things like beefheart, shrimp and chopped fish watch out with feeder fish as thay often cary parasites.

i would always make it at least two weeks cause most internal parasites don't manifest themselves visibly untill then. external one you should see and get rid of those feeders immediately.
they should eventually be weaned on to frozen or fresh non-live food. my poly still eats bloodworms!

my polys love blood worms and if you didnt know that tank is to small for both fish in the long run
