I will be moving my Oscars and silvertips to a 120 i need something else to go with them! i was thinking about a schooling fish, or perhaps a few more SA/CA cichlids. I will be getting a royal plec, my 6in High-fin is going to a buddy of mine who just got a 180g full of Africans and needs a plec badly. So what would you all recommend.

A few monos would be just the addition I would go for with those specific fish... They school and they grow to about 7 inches tall around 4 to 6 in length. I bought one of a chool from my lfs and I wish I would have gotten all of them.. They were freakin awesome... And the look like salt water fish almost!

I put quite abit of salt in my tank anyway. All my fish have adapted to this... So this was not a problem for me.. But he is right. If you have not added the salt content for brakish fish you probably should not have Mono's . Mine was awesome til him and my plec caught a case of the heater went out over a weekend I was gone and they both were done when i got back. But the rest of my fish survived.
I still add allot of salt for my eel.. And have done so since I got him and my Oscar. My eel is of age to be full convert back to full salt but I have to get into my house before I either send him to a better suited home or convert one of my tanks.

How about a couple of silver dollars there great with Oscars and they are also a shoaling fish i have 8 of them in with my 2 10" oscars in a 180gal and they look great mate they have no trouble with the oscars either so i'd reccomend them to you !
