i am thinking of redoing the 125 with a sand bottem and getting rid of every thing but 2-3 uaru and getting a fresh water ray...

is a 125 big enough ??? if so for what type of ray ???

the tank has a FX5, XP3, and 2 emp 400s for filtration.

i am just now starting to read up on them and don't know a whole lot. i have heard that they are difficult to keep. it this true ?? if so why ? what are the special requirements ?

sorry for all the questions. but thanks for the help.

Uaru's make good tankmates..
Rays don't necessarily need sand..
125g is big enough, for about a year or two..
Smaller rays available would be Reticulata, still get 12-15"..
Other Small rays are expensive and limited availability..
Most beginner rays get large, and need a much bigger tank..
They are not difficult to keep, you just need to meet their needs..
They have small stomach, high metabolism, produce tons of waste..
Need large tank, large water volume, lots of food and water changes..

Hope that helps.. read the stickys :D
