125 Gal Tank??......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its a good starter for the first year or 2 atleast. but others have kept them in smaller tanks. if u ask MFK for tank prefference, ur gonna get 1000k gallons or more as a recommendation. imo anything over 100 is a good starter tank. my friends aro grew to 29" in a 75gal tank. of course it wasn't that cool, but jus so u know it is possible

I agree...a 125 will be a good starter tank for a silver. It's not as crucial to get the added width of something like a 180 or 240 because silvers are so flexible...unlike other aros.

As`long as you realize you will eventually need a larger tank. I myself have used the growout/upgrade method. My smaller silver has been in the following tanks 55g til 9", 75g til 14" 120g, 150g, 85g and was moved into 180g at 17-18". He is now 22-23" and in a 180 gallon and Ive had him since Feb of 2006. The next move will be in a couple months into a 350 gallon tank.

Figure that within a couple years you'll need to find him more suitable living arangements.
