im redoing me 125 gallon for a cichlid breeding pair, but want something that has a a lot of color and agressive. ive thought about red tiger motas or one of the amphilopus species.
any imput would be nice

Well I know a fish that fits GREATLY and EXTREMELY into both of your requirements. They are Salvinis. Have a burst of yellow, red, black, and blue color, and are VERY aggressive.
You may or may not get lucky with smaller amphs like sagittae or lyonsi, but that depends on the individual.
I’m pretty sure most of the parachromis will need at least 150 for breeding.
Agree with Jack dempseys, they don’t always look it, but get very colorful as they grow:
Carpintis would also work, a very nice blue cichlid.
