Okay i have a Pair of Cuban Cichlids that are 2.5 to 4 in and I was wondering if there was a eel that could work with them

best kind of eel for a 125 would be in saltwater...nice display tank for a dragon moray or one of the other horned morays...wouldn't bother with dull, reclusive, passive freshwater eels

My fire eel doesn't seem dull, reclusive or passive to me...In fact he is my favorite fish. He is always out swimming around anytime after 5pm or so. He is the one fish eveyone seems to love in my tank. Even my wife who shows no interest in my hobby what so ever wants me to get another eel so my eel Doug can have a "girlfriend"

I had a 17" fire eel he was always out wanting food.

A 125 would not be big enough for a fire eel. The largest eel you could get for a tank that size would probably be a Mastacembelis dayi, or possibly an M. favus. And I also disagree with the dat and ray suggestions. Dats eventually need about 240 gallons minimum (although they are slow growers), and rays need a footprint of at least 6' x 3' (or larger, depending on the species).

I agree with everything you said 100%. I actually wasn't suggesting the OP put a fire eel in his 125, just meerly dismissing the comment that all freshwater eels were boring and reclusive using my fire eel as an example. I have a 18" fire eel in my 220 and I can already tell he will be needing an upgrade in the near future.
