No, it's a male carpintis 'escondido'. Just posted pics of him in another thread.

Very nice!

Looks good. How do the fish get along?

What fish is that in the last picture, the orange fish with the black spot on his/her forehead?

Well I know you got the answer from another thread, but just in case anyone else reads this one and wonders the same thing that is a female Amphilophus xiloaensis. :)

The fish get along just fine. There is the occasional chase but I donj't recall ever seeing so much as a missing scale or torn fin. There is an interesting heirarchy....

The dominant fish is definitely the large white male xiloaensis. He occasionally gives chase to the synspilum and female xilo's but he tends to chase the male sagittae the most...not suprising as closely related as they are and they are both males. However there are, as you can see in the pics, plenty of places that the smaller sag can get to when he's being chased and it's not constant harrassment or anything, otherwise I'd move the male sag to a different tank. The white male xilo never seems to bother the carpintis

The next fish on the totem pole would be the synspilum, which I think is why the male xilo does give him chase every now and then, just to remind him that he's not THE boss. lol The synspilum never messes with any of the other fish except for the male carpintis. They have the occasional flare off but when they do, the male xilo eventually sees and breaks it up. I guess he's telling them that it doesn't matter which one of them is more dominant because neither of them can stand up to him. lol

Other than that, the male carpintis, male sagittae and female xilo's all seem to be on even playing field as far as the chain of command goes. They never bother any of the other fish.

Nice set up Jason. Do I see new heaters?
