I am setting up a 125 gallon cichlid tank. my house stays around 68 degrees. I am wondering what wattage of heater to use and if I should have 1 or 2.

2 heaters 250 watt stealths

I keep my house at 66 F all year. I keep my water at 77-78 F I have 2 125's and I only use one heater at a time now and I have been using 1 Ebo Jager 250 or 1 Theo 400w and they all keep the water just the same.

I use a single 250w Jebo-Jager heater on 125's...My heater works perfectly fine....

I'm running a single 250w stealth on a 125 gallon tank with about 15-20 in the sump. It seems to keep up just fine.

I would go with 2 -200 watt stealths on a single thermostat/ heat controller that way they last longer and one of them does not end up doing a majority of the work. Me and zenzo had a big discussion about this. Its especially important with stealths because they have no light for when they are turned on.

Use two 200 watt heaters to maintain constant temperature. One at each side of the tank is what I do with my 125 GAL, works for me.
