ok so after much research ive decided to EXPERIMENT with adding different fish to live along side my piranhas ...

its either going to be 3 peacock bass
or
2 Oscars ...

I'm between it and am looking for some advice...

the piranhas are Red Belly's and are matured to the age of 1- 5yrs 8in for sure haha... 3-3yrs 5-7in and currently have no problems w/ a 7in pleco (he steals there food all the time)

i will be divided the tank until the PB/Oscar get to be larger the my P's

As said before i realize i run the risk of them dying or being eating but i want to try since no one else really is

I would like you not to put any other fish along with your P's but since the most likely that it's gonna happen is you doing whatever you want so I would advice: go with the bass.

I understand they are thougher that oscars and in some way can face piranha more succesfully.

Cheers.

no experience with pbass only with oscars. and the piranha I have are rhoms

here's the only successful one so far the other are all eaten. you can see the tiger oscar in there with my rhom.

here are some of the unlucky ones, one was still swimming and one was already half eaten.

and this is how the process goes, my rhom was only 4" and the oscar wasn't that much bigger but it would've done the same even if the oscar was 6"

my advise is that you can try it of course, just don't get too attached to the pbass or oscar. if you do however, please have already a separate tank available to rescue them from those rbps. and always keep an eye on them.

it has been tried more times than i can even count... and 9 times out of ten, people talk about it beforehand claiming that they are going to do it no matter what people say and justify their actions by calling them "experiments".

i'll save you some time and tell you what will happen... depending on the size of the peacocks or oscars that you add, they will either pick on your natts and bully them to the point where you lose one or more or they will be eaten before they have the chance to inflict any damage.... either way, it won't end well.

very true, my oscar is usually the one that initial the fight as rhom gets closer. actually I was never intend to "cohab" them since I got those oscars for free as food but the last and the biggest one managed to hold it's ground. it's been almost a month now. the rhom now rarely try to attack it.
