Florida!
Well, I have finally been able to set up this tank! It is a standard 125 with a nice wood stand and glass tops. I have had it a while, but housed a snake in it for most of the time because I sold most of my fish stuff. I have slowly accumulated supplies and now it is running!

I need to find proper lighting, but my 4' shoplight combined with another small fluorescent work for now.

Filtration consists of a DIY wet/dry in a 30 gallon sump with a mag 7 return pump. I did not feel like sectioning off the sump because I may use it later as a regular tank. All I did was cut up a basket and stick egg crate on one side to box in the bioballs. The basket is angled slightly and creates a nice current in the sump to move the moss/plants around. Pictures will explain everything...

After setup and assuring there were no leaks, stocking began. I haven't had a nice peaceful community fish tank before, and wanted to have it planted without fish that uproot anything green for fun. So, I am trying a nice community with tetras, gouramis, and other peaceful, little fish.

So far, I have 15 bloodfin tetras, 3 pearl gouramis and a redtail shark. I plan on getting some more tetras and maybe some barbs of some kind. I really like the big tank/little fish thing. Here are some more recent pictures of it stocked with fish and some plants.

In the next week or so, I will be transfering a lot more plants over from another tank...along with some new fishes. I want to have this kind of sloppy, overgrown and full of fish. Like most of my other tanks, the only fertilization for the plants will be heavy fish feedings.
Let me know what you think!

A nice background and atleast one good fish that anyone would be able to see from the otherside of the room would look great.

I know you said that you like the big tank little fish scheme but every tank needs one centerpiece fish right?

Yeah, I'm working on the background. I usually paint my tanks back black, but forgot this time. I don't really like cory cats...I have had them in every planted tank I have done. I am probably getting like 10-20 otos, though.

CichlidFiend- The problem with one large fish and a lot of little ones is that most large fish will either eat or harass the fish that I have. I can see all the fish in there from outside the room fine. My gouramis will get big enough anyways.

Ha, I can't tell you how many different plecos I have tried. I still can't get over how much waste they make for how inactive they are. Also, the only pleco I have had that didn't nibble on plants was my clown pleco...who is now in my backyard pool. I like them, just not in MY tanks!
