I have a 125 gallon tank that I'd like to take in a new direction. I'd like to have some hardy plants, such as Anubius, a sand substrate with some rocks and driftwood decoration.

My ph holds at about 7.8. I do weekly 50% water changes as standard maintenance.

My thought is I'd like to work with an at risk species in this tank. My thoughts at this point is Archocentrus nanoluteus, with Boeseman's Rainbowfish as a dither.

What else would work in this tank, that would be compatible? I don't want anything huge, or very aggressive, and also I'd rather not have problems with hybridization. I don't have anything in mind, and the other species don't have to be endangered fish...it's just a thought.

Any ideas? Thanks!

How about some angelfish?

Discus, Ramirezi, Microgeophagus, school of tetras and a few suckers (plecos).

I'm thinking that my ph is too high for most of the species listed. Also, my water is moderately hard...won't that cause some issues?

My pH is 7.8 too and I breed angelfish and discus. I would stray away from discus as they do best in discus only tanks. I think 6 silver angels would looks amazing in your set up. Also, some bristlenose plecos would look nice too.
