Hey everyone I dropped out of fish keeping a few years ago but im ready to get back into it. I'm purchasing a 125 gallon tank mid july and I have an idea for stocking wanted to see what you all thought though. It will have a pool filter sand bottom a sun sun canister filter rated for 565 gph and a Marineland emperor 400. As far as stocking goes would this work out in the long run?
1 tiger oscar
1 sun catfish
3-4 4 line pictus catfish
And a school of either silver dollars or some type of larger dither fish suggestions are more than welcome! Thanks in advance.

Oscar will be attempting to eat all of those tankmates eventually.

I’d say add the Oscar last to give the sun catfish and silver dollars time to grow, and by time I mean several months at least. Those pictus I would worry about.

Make sure the sun cat has some size on it. I’d pass on the pictus cats. Can try blochii, large. The other fish should be fine.

If the Oscar eats a pictus cat he's going to be sorry and you should have a scalpel and forceps handy to extricate the barblels from his mouth.

I actually have one in with my flowerhorn and he's scared of the cat because he learned the hard way.

Okay i will pass on the pictus any thoughts on a lima shovelnose and dropping the pictus cats? Or would that be to much to have 2 cats the oscar and silver dollars?

I would drop the pictus and forget about adding anything to replace them, Oscar with the sun cat and silver dollars will be a pretty heavy stock once they are all full size. Doesn't sound like much but all of those fish can get quite large and are active, tank will look full in a couple years when the fish get big.
