Just a general question to those out there.
I currently have 125 gallon native tank with some Yellow Perch, Bluegills and some Pumpkinseeds.
I am upgrading from a 125 gallon setup to a 150 gallon tank.
I currently have one of those basic metal stands for the 125 gallon tank, the 150 tank is the same dimensions as the 125.
Do you think that the stand has the strength to hold the 150. I'm probably going to weld some extra support in there to be safe.

Has anyone else made the switch from a 125 gal tank to a 150?
I've tried a few searches and I can not find an answer to this one.
Thanks in advance,
Dwayne

I've noticed that most stands will accommodate every tank with the matching footprint. Its more cost effective for the manufacturer to make one stand than two that are the same size but of different strength.

Thanks both for your reply. Voltman, I do not know the thickness right now I am at work. But, it should hold the extra weight.

Bbortko, what you say also makes sense, same footprint should handle the additional weight.

Think I'll weld an extra support or two for safety and, more so, piece of mind.

Thanks again, Dwayne

Thanks to both of you

I wouldn't worry, you aren't adding that much more weight. Probably 300 lbs max, you are already at about 1200-1300 lbs plus gravel and rock.
