I just purchased a 125g tank with a fluval 405 off craigslist for $200. I plan to also run UG with 3 powerheads.

I am wondering if I could keep 2 peacock bass in this tank.

If you suggest a bigger tank then how long will I be able to keep them in the 125 before I upgrade????

x2 about a year or a year and a half depending on how much u feed them and how your wc schedule is going to be

As stated it does depend, Id say quite a while though being ocells, I had an ocell for half a year and he went from 3 to 7 inches, I dont know how big he would have gotten at the end of the year though, I would say they would be happy until they get to about 15-16inches being that the tank is only 18inches wide, which I believe females don't get that large so if you have two females you're set, thats my personal opinion. I would say anything at 180gals or larger would work for life with ocells, but once again thats my opinion.

A 15-16" pbass need tank that is wider than 18 inches more like 24" at the minimum. My pbass are 10" and they look almost cramped in my 18 wide tank:popcorn: And also females do get that large......

Let me start by saying "Thank You" to everyone who answered. I really love my new tank and my peacock bass will be delivered to my LFS today. I cant wait to get them home.

I am going to keep my PB's in my 125 till they outgrow it and then they will be housed in my new indoor pond. I purchased a 300 gallon rubbermaid tub for $200 dollars at ACE hardware and I will be installing it in my garage over the next year, building a filter, buying a heater system, ect, ect.

My Fiance has finally figured out that im fish happy:screwy: and she seems to be ok with it.:naughty:
