Hello All,

I am new to this website. I have three tanks that is already set up. I just bought a 125 gallon tank, and I am buying a Jardini arowana. I want to add one cichlid to the this tank. I am trying to figure which one would be the best to add with the jardini arowana: green terror, jack dempsey, festae aka true red terror, or black nasty ? Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks,
J

With a 125 gallon you are already kind of strapped for space with a jardini. Other fish tend not to do well with jardini's.The jardini's either tend to be too aggressive or get swallowed easily because of their body shape which is a cigar shape. Especially since you have only a 125 gallon I would highly suggest no tank mates it will only spell lots of trouble in the future. However I guess there are exceptions everyone finds an "exception" I guess.

Its just a case of trying tankmates out , I've always had tankmates with my jardini but I've also lost a lot of nice fish due to jardini aggresion so if you do it its always a gamble :banghead:
Big hardy cichlids could work I had a jag in with my last jar for six years they did scrap on occasions but as long as you create a retreat for the cichlid to defend when the jardini decides to go crazy you can get away with it , eventually the pecking order will be established jardini being top and it'll settle down (I always found at this stage adding fish starts it all off again so don't be tempted if you get this far to add anything else )
Of course there are mfk's that keep them in community tanks no probs but they are the lucky few I guess ;):D good luck
