white sand, river rocks...a few left over dried live rocks. about 15-20 mbuna, 1 red tail shark, 2 upsidedown synos (looking to get more) and 2 archers (looking to get two more)

feeding veggies attached to spoons for mbuna and shark along with spirulina flakes/pellets.

archers are getting hand fed crickets and mealworms....i am going to try krill soon.

archers can live full healthy lives in fresh unlike other "brackish" species and have bred in fresh as well.

yea scats, monos, green spotted puffers, colombian shark catfish...absolutely need salt.

archers just need clean alkaline water with quality food (no flakes). figure 8 puffers do not need salt either although people claim they live longer with it....yet they are a freshwater species. go figure

What a beautiful tank, love the setup!!! I didnt know that about archers either, may have to get some

just make sure it is hard alkaline clean water and that you feed them insects and other suitable things like shrimp. i wouldnt give them pellets. im going to go to this asian market to get the seaweed sheets for my africans so they have food 24/7 like in the wild since they are algae grazers. the redtail shark gets along great with them as does the syno.

the archers are peaceful and dont bother fish that even fit in their mouth. they even learn to eat bugs off the sand.

the cichlids are not interested since they dont look like them so they leave them out the drama
