Well I filled my 125 gal (outside;) ) and found that it has a leak. So when I get the time I'm going to tear it apart, clean off the old silicon, and rebuild it.
The question is, which is the silicon that I get at Lowes, does it matter as long as its clear and algecide free?
Any help would be appreciated.
Allen

I use Silicone I myself.. Allot of others use Silicone II ..

Just wondering are you thinking of tearing it compeltely down?? I usually just Razor out the insided Sili and wash witrh acetone and re sili.. but that is just me..

Ithink I will try that method first,Thanks

silicon is wicked great, just remember do the WHOLE seal do not spot that on there take a putty knifs down the whole edge and acetone it off otherwise it doesnt bond correctly and youre screwed, and it probly wont leak right away itll wait till it over your carpet :-)

but hey I did my 125 successfully so any idiot with some spare time can!

BTW: got to lfs get all-glass sealant.... just to be on the safe side of the chemical questions! itsdirt cheap anyways

I use ge silicone 1 window and door resealed over 20 used tanks no leaks.Use a razor to scrape every bit of silicone off the surfaces. Then scrub with scotchbrite and scrape again.

Dirt must be expensive in your area..lfs prices on silicone are twice as much as HD/lowes. :D

:iagree: Just be careful of scotchbrite pads, some will scratch glass.
