Hello! I plan on keeping three oscars, four clown loaches and a jack dempsey in a 125 gallon aquarium. is this too many fish for a tank this size? I have two penguin 400 outside filters, I've been keeping fish since 1980 but I need some real expert advice here. Thanks
125 gal 3 oscars and 2 jack depseys but i had 3 Aqua clear 500's on it along with 50% water changes every week and my tank was always messy looking. From the time the oscars hit 4" -^" in size i could not keep the crap out of the water colume. I also had a bare bottom in this setup. But i grew tired of daily crap patrole quickly so when the o's were about 7-8" i traded them in.
But on a bit of good news i never had any aggression or water quality issues. Nitrate were always below 20PPM and the PH was steady at 6.8 / 7.0.
I say if you go with this setup youtr proposing then just beef up the filtration by adding 2 aqua clear 110's or 2 more emporer 400's and get ready for daily poop patrol.
