I planned on setting up my 125g with your normal SA/CA cichlids and bought 5 silver dollars and a dozen Columbian tetras to grow out as dithers. Now my wife has decided that she likes the small groups of fish and wants to stick with a peaceful tank, so I'm going to give Geophagus sp. tapajos a try. They seem like the perfect match for what my wife wants.
So the new stock list is:
6 - redheads
5- SDs
12- Columbian tetras
A group of Corey cats

I think it is a good stocklist but I keep seeing not to have the redheads in a tank with boisterous tankmates. I'm guessing they mean they normal aggressive cichlids, but I just want to make sure that the erratic behavior of the SDs won't stress them out. What do you guys think?

I don't think the SDs will stress them out so much as it will just be tough to feed the other fish. Its my main gripe with SDs, they're so damn fast & eat everything in sight. It can be tough to get enough food down to grow-out fish or fish that feed from the substrate.

I had tapajos with sd in a 125 and no issues. At the same time I also had a single jurapari that schooled with the sd.
