Ok, so i have a 40g with 2 ocelaris about 3" right now. i am about to order some monos and orinos (i wanted to get 4 of each). Soon i will be changing my 125g (72x18x24) into a grow out for my Pbass. I was thinking i could raise 10 - 12 in there to about 10"-12" with an FX5 and AC110 filtering it. Eventually my favorite pair(s) will be moved to my 240g. But first i wanted to get some input from the pros before i moved forward with my project. Also i was curious what you guys think the best substrate is for them? I was going to go with small smooth pebbles with speratic larger flat and smooth stones.

It could work but with that many peacock basses in a 125 gallon together is really cramping them in their too much even to 10-12"...you might be able to around 7-9" but any higher would be cramping and could stunt them in ways we can't fix. Once you find you good pairs what will you do with the rest that are still in the 125 while you move the pairs you like into the 240 gallon? As long as its a growout then its fine. You can either you fine sand or very smooth round pebbles is fine aswell.
Well, my initial intention would be to sell off the ones i dont pick for myself and start the cycle over, eventually ending up with some realy nice breeding pairs. However, knowing myself, there is a good chance I'll end up getting a 300g for them and not wanting to sell very many.

I guess that filtration should do you some good but do more than 30% water change weekly. Atleast 40-50%. =]
