Oscar Tummy
After a week of moderate/heavy feeding, I am happy to report nitrates at 10ppm before the w/c. I'd again like to emphasize how much easier a huge tank is for the Oscar and keeper. I mean, wow. 10ppm AND adequate feeding? This seems like a dream...

Yes, some people don't believe a large tank is easier to take care of than a smaller one. That's why I hate the "What's the minimum size" threads. A lot of different types of fish can be housed in a 75 but a 150 is much easier in you.

Just the one baby O at 12". I got one year ago at four inches, so he's got to be around 16 months old. The other fish in it are four baby green x pumpkinseed sunnies, one adult green sunny, and one L200 pleco. There is also a ball of java moss bigger than a cat and some water lettuce and other floating plants. Gets sunlight in the morning and grows some algae, too, but I take the algae off every week. So every living thing in the tank has green on it. The Oscar turns olive when seeing its reflection at night and getting aggressive. Three different types of large HOB's, one for mechanical and two for biological. Yep. That about sums it up.

If it were just the oscar in there, I wouldn't be surprised, but you do have other fish in the tank. How big is the adult green? and how big are the baby green/pumpkins?

Do you think you are getting a measureable amount of nitrate reduction from the moss/water lettuce?

If I remember correctly from your last thread these fish were prevoiusly housed in a smaller tank. Unless I'm mistaken. That's what I ment by a bigger tank being easier.

Nice.
I started out with the oscar-sunfish-pleco combo.
When i finally started feeding the sunfish mealworms he grew fast upto 8 inch!
You're in for some growth!
