What about a ton of black Sailfin mollies? Would that work?

maybe. worth a shot.

buy why not a bunch of crabs instead?

Add a tang some snails some crabs and leave the lights off for like a week that will help if that doesnt work i would take out the rocks and scub them so get the algea of and then start over agian.

the mollies wouldn't touch that palm caleurpa.. could probably handle the hair fairly well though.. but that's ok.. set some aside and sell it to local fish keepers/LFS.. kind of rare and good looking IMO

Use R/O for water changes way to much phosphate You could black out tank with black garbage bages and do water changes at 50% on day 5 and 7 and 10 that will kill it all 10 days of darkness but the water changes are key to remove all the dead rotting algae and ammo ,nit, that comes from the die off then stick with the R/0 and maybe add another power head or two timer for lights snails blue leg crabs emrald crab tangs all helpful more info on your tank setup would also help before you do somthing drastic
