Hey all, I just picked up a 125g off craigslist for a hundred bucks and I had a few setup questions. I plan on using pool filter sand as substrate but I'm not sure where to come upon some, does anybody know where I could get some? And how much should get? Also what kind of filtration should I use? The tank came with two 36in strip lights. Is that going to be enough? Any and all help is appreciated!

Order a Jager 300 Watt heater. For sand talk to pool places or also look at the play sand at lowes about 4.00 per 50lbs. Get about 100lbs if you want allot can always ads more later if needed . 50 if you don't want too much. Filter your going to want a good one that's the thing you can't go cheap on. If you want to do it really go get a fx5 If you want to go cheap get 3 hang on the back filters from Walmart the big ones. just plan to clean them often and keep up on them. Lights if those work they work if not get a 4 foot shop light with dual bulbs and add aquarium bulbs.

You can use silica sand but you have to wash more than good and heater you can use marinland 300 w filter fx5 Or u can do diy sump
