So the 125g has come along way over the last year, with some big changes across the board with the moving of plants to the kids tanks, and in the last month the substrate being changed out to black blasting media, changed from PFS.

Current stock is:

About 15~ Black neons
7 heckelii
6 red head tapajos
1 para plec(L75)
1 Sunshine plec (L014)
1 Blue Acara

Looking to drop about 4 of the heckelii at this point an potentially the entire group of the RH's. Their color is really coming in, with the flaring up and brilliant yellow cheeks, and some pairing attempts have started but nothing has formed. Wife loves them but they just haven't grown on me like they do for many folks here on the forum.

Stock after dropping stock will hopefully be:
15~ black neons
3 heckelii
0 or 6 rh taps
1 para ple
1 sunshine plec
1 blue acara

Right now I'm eyeballing a few different species to bring in after I lower current stock. I'd thought about Chocolates or psittacus or some rokteil's. Any other suggestions? I'd thought about pearsei but have ruled them out just based of aesthetics.

I have a vieja heterospilus if you interested pm

I would think a pearsei is hit or miss with those remaining.when big enough, would take out the neons.I think a chocolate is a good choice,my pair is great with tankmates, just a chase when breeding, but take command of the tank.I do think they would eat the neons when big enough though.maybe switch to lemon tetras,or another high body or faster/bigger school? maybe rainbows.....

Not to sure about how I feel on Vieja's. I might take another serious look at them in 2 years when I upgrade tanks again.

As for the tetras, if they go or surviv, I'm either way on. I'd initially just purchased them because it was a huge deal, like 18$ for 25 of them (few of them are split between the kids tanks atm). I took them out of one of my daughters tanks only to find they had evidently spawned and 8 more were in her tank a short time later. It was unreal. They were supposed to just be dithers for the heckelii and taps when they were 1.5-2". We had rainbow fish at one point, but I ended up trading in what I could catch. We still have 3 bosemani's but I'll likely take them in for trade in as well when I pull out the heckelii/tapajos.
