I'm trying to finalize my choices for my 125g. I'm trying for a peaceful tank and plan on raising all the fish together. I have a 75g and 55g to use for separating fish should problems arise. Also, upgrading is not an option for quite some time. Filtration will be whatever is required Below are some choices I've made. I'm open for suggestions and advice.

Option 1:

1x Oscar
1x GT
1x Texas, Blood Parrot or JD
1x Rubber lip pleco
?x Leporinus or Red Fin Silver Dollars - I've read both are good for dithers. I like the look of the Leporinus more than Silver Dollars.

Option 2

2-4x Gold and Green Severums
1x Firemouth
1x Festivum
?x Clown Loaches
?x other suggestions

Option 3

3x Severum
1x BGK
1x Pleco
?x other suggestions

None of this is set in stone as the tank is not up and running and I own none of these fish. I would prefer Option 1 if at all possible.

Thanks,

Steve.

Thanks. Any reason why you like that option? Just curious. Also, any suggestion on the number of clown loaches?

Thanks,

Steve.

i agree !!!!!!!!!

lose the FM and get 3 festivums with the 2-4 sevs you could also add a couple of eartheaters if you wanted.

as far as clown loaches i would say several (but i have never been able to keep them so i will let someone esle speak on that)

I would also go option 2 but more like this:

4x Gold and Green Severums - I'd go gold, green, turq, rotkeil
3x Festivum
3x Uaru a.
1x BGK
2x smallish pleco like a bristlenose

Which I guess is a combo of 2 and 3 but why not? You could still do the loaches if you want, or some silver dollars. The uaru are my thing because I love my uaru and wish I could find some more, you don't have to get them of course but I'd like them with that group.

uaru are great fish :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 !!!!

but if you add them i would reduce the # of sevs to 2. Uaru get pretty big and i think the tank would be crowed with 3 of them and 4 sevs.

you could do
3 uaru
2 sevs
3 festivums
and the 2 BN plecos
also add the loaches if you want them.

Steve its close to my set up thats why
I have 2 gold severums 1 hero severus (turquise severum i believe, 1 green severum, 1 rotkiel (maybe 2), then working on the rest of my stock, possibly a big school of giant danios, loaches and possibly dwarfs

Tinfoil barbs are probably too large for a 125. I think giant danios would be about right, depending on if you get larger aggressive cichlids. Silver Dollars are fine for any of them. I don't know about the leporinus; I have never had one. I think Uaru, severums, clown loaches, silver dollars, and maybe a bichir or 2 would look awesome.
