I'm working on stocking a 125G right now. Still very undecided on a lot of things. So far I only have the driftwood, pressurized co2, and ADA soil in place.

Here's what I have in mind. Feel free to make suggestions or add ideas!

Fish:
Neon Tetra 20
Rummy Nose Tetra 20
Harlequin Rasbora 10
10 Oto Cats

Shrimp:
Crystal Red Shrimp OR Amano Shrimp. Undecided.

Filtration:
Undecided and really need help with this. I posted a thread on this here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...125G-Planted-Aquarium-Filter-Help-(1-Viewing)

My options are:

Option A: 2x Eheim 2217 - would this be enough? will there be enough flow?
Option B: 1x Eheim 2262 - this one has the best flow rate, but is it too strong?
Option C: 1x Eheim 2081

I want to add more fish, but what don't know what yet. I also really like Dennison Barbs but they can get bigger than the tetras listed - what do you guys think?

I don't have to keep the tetras. I'm open for anything.

Discus are ok. They seem hard to care for, although they look amazing.

Like I said, I'm open for anything. Anyone can feel free to post how YOU would stock this tank if it was in your hands.

125 is enough for 2 or 3 oscars or a single flowerhorn... u have a big tank so dont go for those small fish like tetras...

What is your experience level? Also, what do you want for this tank?

This site is Monster Fish Keepers so many people here are bias to the big predators, but if you want a peaceful tank go with tetras, shrimp, and other small fish. Nice size schools of small fish look great in tanks like 125 gallons. You actually get to see natural behaviors. Discus are great fish and not as hard to take care of as many would tell you. Buy locally bred when possible and don't worry about trying to change your pH and water hardness. The fluctuations are generally harder on them then a nice stable set of water parameters.

It sounds like you are looking for a planted type tank, have you looked at Australian rainbowfish yet? The larger ones would eat your tetras but the smaller ones will be safe with them. A school of larger types as full adults is a site to see.

Ok, I will feel free. I would personally suggest making it a TURTLE TANK!!!!!!! Turtles are amazing pets! I have two that I absolutely LOVE having!!! They are pretty expensive to get, because they have to have a lot more stuff than most fish do. I personally have a Red Eared Slider and a Pink Belly Sideneck. I wouldnt trade either of them for anything. They both have some of the best personalities. They will both actually come up and watch whatever I am doing in the room. My pink belly is still a baby so he still runs when I get close, but my Red Ear will swim around my hand when I do something in the tank. I love them!!!

After setting up my 60G planted tank, i have to say i'm tempted to do a 125G planted tank, except i don't have the space for it...

Infact, i'm now starting to enjoy large tanks with lots of small inhabitants just as much as my large predator tank... having a small ecosystem type setup is actually a lot more fun to watch then just a predator tank a lot of the times...

As for stocking, i would go with things such as, Clown Killi Fish, Needle Nose Pike (they stay really small don't let the name fool you), Celestial Pearl Danios, Maybe some CRS and Thai Micro crabs along with some other cool looking small fish to fill the rest of the spaces...

I like the sound of this. When i first got my 90 gallon i had shoals of tetras and other small fish. I gotta say i miss having so many small fish in a large planted tank. Good luck with this. Im looking forward to seeing the out come.
