Hi Everyone, I hope I'm posting in the right place. I current have a green terror and 6 giant Danios and am planning to upgrade to a 125 gallon. Is this a good stocking list?

6xGiant danios
1xGreen terror
1xBlackbelt
1xfiremouth

Thanks!

Few things, first the giant danios will probably be eaten when the vieja is full grown. I tried it once with a vieja in a 125 and they disappeared. Also, I think the blackbelt is going to be much more aggressive than the other two and probably tear them up at some point. I would call a 125 about minimum for a blackbelt, it may not want to share. If you really wanted to try some other cichlids with it, might have more luck with some convicts or maybe neetroplus, a couple pairs of them. But the large vieja still may kill them, it would be a risk.
Better idea for a community in the 125, IMO, would be to pick less aggressive fish. Since you like firemouths, do a group of 6, then also could try vieja heterospila, much less aggressive.

Big mean vieja species in a 125 community is going to be tough to pull off. I've done it before and the vieja did kill some fish. The tankmates that lasted were small enough relative to the vieja, to not be seen as much of a threat, and tough enough to hold their own. Convicts and neets fit this bill. Maybe salvini.

Yeah your right. I really like the the idea of the herospila then. When adult they still get a bit of that vieja coloring I like. Seems they are hard to find though. Thanks for the advice!!

Maybe
1xGT
1xheterospila
3x firemouths

I think that would be much more likely to work, still need to be wary of the GT. Personally I might replace the green terror with something central American, to keep the tank CA, though that's up to you. Panamensis are one of my favorites, to me they look like small vieja.
Here's my panamensis male
