How long could I keep a silver arowana in a 125g tank? I'm going to get a 300g tank in about two or three years. The arowana is about two or three inches long. Do they grow fast? What do I feed them? This is my first arowana so give any info you can.

in 2 years the arowana would be like 24" so it would work maybe for 1 year but not 2 or 3

What kind of arowana? Silver arowana are probably the most common. A good rule of thumb is the arowana should be kept in a tank that is 3x the aro's length and have a width equal to the aro's length, though you can cheat a little. You mentioned that you have a 125g tank, what are the dimensions? Assuming the 125g has a footprint of 72" x 18" the tank's narrow width would allow for an 18" arowana, you could push that a few inches though.

Silver aros grow rather quickly, on average about 1 to 1.5" a month. So a 3" silver will outgrow a standard 125g in about 12 to 15 months.

haha bderick u miss read it lol

The diminsions are: 72"L x 16"W x 24"H.

oh i think would only last 8 months or 10 but depends on how much u feed it,water changes, tempature too

Your tank dimensions are not real good. Being narrow as it is, doesn't allow for as large of an arowana. Still could push a 20" in that tank. So in a year you better have started on that 300g.

Depends on size. If you start with a 3" it will need soft foods, best bet is freeze dried blood worms and a quality flake food. For larger aros check out the feeding sticky
