Would a 125g be sufficeint for any species of sting ray? I read the largest to start is no less than 75G. That even seems kind of small...I just dont want to end up getting a one, and not being a large enough tank for it. Obviously not for life, im moving in about a year, so i will have more space to buy a larger tank.

Interesting to hear an answer on this. I would think that tank mates and bioload would also weigh in on this. It may be OK to keep the ray in the 125g without tank mates. IDK will see what the experienced ray keepers say.

I'm not a ray keeper. I think you can do it as a short-term solution, but not as they grow. I agree that one juvenile ray would be OK in a 125 for awhile.

also depends on if its a wide or tall i know a 2' wide by 4' long would last longer than a 16" wide one. also if you have a sump on the tank it would be better. if you have the option and time to buy the bigger tank before you buy the ray then always get the biggest you can. but most people rush it and have too small of a tank then they say they will upgrade but you know things happen in between there. you can lose a job and lots of other variables. so since you dont have the tank yet buy bigger so it will be years not less than a year that you have to upgrade.

its tough to say...

a ray will last a little while in a 125 depending on your filtration, tankmates, and how much u feed..

Yeah he would definitely be by himself, if not by himself maybe one other fish, i figured before i started research to see what you guys have experienced with rays in a 125G I was reading some of the sticky's like i said earlier said at least 75G that just didnt seem large enough even for a small one.

125 Long, FX5, might buy another one as well.
