Hey got a question here does anyone know the thickness of the top and bottom acrylic of a 125g truvu i was thinking 1/2" but possibly 3/8"?

Also does anyone own a 125g Seaclear acrylic tank and same question as above i heard that seaclears seem to bow more than the truvu which i heard doesnt bow much as the seaclears.

go to the company site

truvu's should be 1/2". truvu usually uses thicker acrylic. seaclears quality isnt horrible but i wouldnt buy from them.

Yep, I've seen a few 40gal and 60gal Sea Clear bowing out. The owner said it was not leaking but the bowing make the tank looks poorly made. I don't know if it will explode but I would play it safe by getting the thicker acrylic tank. Have you consider Clear for Life? They are a Socal company and make really nice tank.

I have a Tru-Vu 180 gal. that's about 4 or 5 years old. It's thickness is 1/2". Personally, I would never buy another acrylic tank because of scratching, and other issues. The best acrylic tank is only half as good as a cheap glass tank IMO.

Acrylic's dont burst without warning.

i have a 125g thats about 25 years old. Not sure what brand it is. Glass is 1/2", there is no center brace, and it only bows 3/8". All seams are perfect too.

Clear for life has been really good with feedback and friendly on the phone. They are pricing out a tank and are seemingly great guys. They will build it with any acrylic you want it seems :headbang2
