OK this is probably a dumb question but do you think i could put an Arowana in a 125 with 2 oscars? I am pretty sure that it is gonna be to small but i havent looked at the tank yet, they guy that is selling it said it is a wierd shape for a 125. Any small arowanas that could fit or should i look for something bigger, i really want an arowana.

Your Oscars should be happy in the 125 but it is too small for an Aro, you can use it as a grow out tank and perhaps upgrade when the time comes.

Here is my advice for the oscar w/ an aro query, as posted in another thread.

Oscars are no good with aros in my experience. Both being extreme eating machines, fighting for food can get a little violent. I have no proof but am 99%sure that my oscar, that was only in my tank to nurse back to health, killed my aro. <---Not cool at all, but to each his own. Oscar was 4", Aro was 9".

The bare minimum for the smaller arowanas growing to aorund 24" is a 6x2x2, it would be preferable if it's wider. In this size you could keep either a jardini, black or asian, bare in mind though that if you get a jardini, it's likely to end up at the only fish in the tank.

Due to recent events in my fish house, I wouldn't advise keeping oscars with an arowana. I have a 16" RTG asian and a 10" oscar in my 210g, the oscar got a bit kinky recently flaring at everything and decided to chase the aro, my aro now has a nasty wound on his side where a few sacles are knocked out and others are damaged. The oscar is now sulking with my fahaka puffer.

i don't recommend oscars with aros either i had 2 oscars about 4" each with a 12" aro and the oscars picked on the aro all the time.

How big are your Oscars? Well if you kept the Oscars together with the arowana since they were young and raised them together, and now wanted to move them into something bigger then that should be fine. But i don't suggest all of a sudden adding a new aro to your Oscar tank.
About the 125 gal. for an aro? Well you can use it as a growout tank untill your aro reaches 12-13", then you will have to upgrade. So if i were you i would try to get something bigger, at least a 180 gal 6x2x2.

So, if you can't afford a tank upgrade once it outgrows the 125 what can you do with the aro?
