125gal rimless or not??

I not sure I understand the question. Did the brace break or are you asking if it should be a solid piece ? Im pretty sure the brace is attached with silicone whether they used black silicone depends I think if black silicone was used on the rest of the tank. If the brace is broken I would use something stronger than silicone to repair it.

all the trim pieces are separate 4 pieces on top and 4 on bottom, no braceing, looks like half inch glass, and is sealed with clear silicone and wondered if black is better for the size of tank. ive never seen a tank that the rims wernt one pice

That tank is really oldschool, all new larger tanks have center braces and the bracing is all one piece. I probably wouldnt trust that tank with water in it.

No it was not made rimless. I have had older 100 and 125s that the trim has came apart. The black silicon is supposed to be just as good as the the clear. I have never used the black but if you are wanting to change the silicone to black then go for it. The issue I would be concerned with would be the bottom trim. Is it totally broken in the corner or is the surface just pealed back? I would be worried the trim would fail when the tank is filled. Maybe you could epoxy the trim back together to make it more stable and peace of mind.

Yeah thats just a older tank because the glass is so thick the frame is not as massive as the tanks built today . Because of the thicker glass there is less bowing therefore no need for a massive 1 piece brace

The trim doesn't matter for the structural integrity of the tank. As stated older tanks did without the bracing piece of plastic, opting for thicker glass. These tanks are much better built IMO, and will last. If you want to make it rimless, go for it. The trim is just for looks.
