Oahu Grown!
I just picked up a 125gal and have 2 penguin 350 from a tank i sold. Well I am looking to add a canister filter as well. I am looking for everyone's suggestion so please the more the merrier! You don't have to go into details just pick between option 1 or 2. If you would like to leave pros and cons on each, that would also be very much appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Option 1. Fluval 405

OR

Option 2. Rena XP3

OOPS....just noticed it....i put xb3 on the poll instead of xp3....ohh well, ya'll know what im talking about :D:D:D

I'm sure this would come down to personal preference. I'm not sure if either filter has that much of an advantage.

I myself use the XP3, I have 7 of them. A XP3 properly set up will adequately filter a 125g with normal stocking levels. I would keep the penguins running also, good idea to have redundant filtration.

i hear that they clog often...any truth to that?

Which one? Need to be specific or quote what you are referring to.

I have never had an XP3 clog and only seen a reduction in flow result from using a micro filtration pad which I no longer use.

$110...a 405 is around $150 on ebay.
