Hi i know this isnt exactly the best spot for this as im not DIYing anything at this point but i know some of the guys who regularly come in here are engineers or similar so are the best ppl to ask. Im looking at getting a 12'x30"x2'high tank secondhand and just wanna make sure its all safe. Its got 12mm sides and a 20mm base panel. The base is obviously good enough but just wanted to make sure 12mm is ok. I realise its mainly water lvl that cause the pressure it just seemed abit skinny to me as i have 12mm glass on my way smaller 4x2x2. The water lvl would be the same though so i guess its probably ok.
And any idea of what the tank alone empty would weigh? Thats the main thing im worried about with buying it. Gonna be so awkward to move around.

Glass weighs in at about 2,5kg per mm thickness per sqaure meter surface area.
eg:
12mm glas 2 square meter:

2,5 x 12 x 2 = around 60kg

And 12mm should be enough for the height of your tank

Thanks heaps. Good too know. You sure about the weight though? I have a 6x2 as well and i would of thought i was heavier then 60kgs. Took me and a friend to move it and was fairly heavy. Going of your measurements it weighs 30kg or less. Im not exactly superman but i wouldnt of thought i was only carrying 15kg. I guess it may just be the awkwardness of it that makes it seem so heavy but still doesnt seem right to me.
