For FREE (to a good home!) goes the larger of my two Python eels, named Gonzo.
I have no idea how he injured himself (it's not like my 220g is too small for him, and these, of all fish, are not super likely to swim fast into glass) but about a month ago I noticed he seemed to have a permanently bent back and now is 100% upside-down at all times and swims all spazzy.
I've been feeding him earthworms, and he's obviously still hungry, but because he can't swim upright it has become impossible for me to feed him because the other fish steal his food before he can react. He obviously gets very excited about the food and the feeding tube so will definitely eat, but simply can't get to it in my big tank. If I'd been successful in my last two attempts at feeding him, I wouldn't be putting him up here.
Sadly, the only other tank I have large enough to house him is occupied by a very very mean fahaka. That would destroy him. And laugh.
Aside from his handicap, he's a perfectly healthy fish. He's fat and has good color (cool python-skin pattern) and hangs out upside-down in my plants. He has a great personality, and loves eating. I suspect that he could be kept with smaller/less aggressive tankmates than you'd usually put a fish like this with, simply because he has no real way to chase anything down.
I'm having a hard time getting more than a picture of the bottom of his tail, since he hangs out in the plants all weird.
An uninjured version of this fish would cost at least $100 (probably $200 for one his size) and again, if I could successfully feed him I would NOT be giving him up.
Just convince me that you'll take good care of him and Gonzo is yours for free. P/U only on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
