I have tetras and other small fish right now, around 80+ I want to make it a species only tank by allowing a predator to eliminate the others...lol
I have live plants and want to keep them.
Any ideas for a predator that will fit in that size tank???

I was thinking of a fish that would not be so messy. but is also different, something along the gar family or freshwater barracuda....but I need more insight and ideas other than these two

Maybe some parachromis but a 135 is small for more than 2 different species excluding Dovii. They are extreme preditors so you will have fun with them. IME they don't bother plants. They may pick on a particular one because they just don't like it but won't bother other ones.

I had cichlids before and I am not that keen on them, plus I do not want to have to change all the water peramiters

I was thinking a florida gar.
with the tank setup the way that it is will the gar be happy with it.
water perameters and such...all tropical fish in it right now

how much space do these guys need, do i have to get rid of some of my plants??
and how fast do they grow??

fahaka puffer, great fish, somebody posted theres in the photolounge a few hours ago, but a 135 would be aboulte minimum for them, they get 18" and grow very fast and very fat, very very agro predator with a NASTY bite.
