I'm finally back in business, yesterday I picked up a 135 gal tank that I bought of Craigslist for $250. It was setup as a SW, but I will be doing FW for awhile.

The closet of my dog's room shares the wall with my dining room so it shouldn't be to bad to do. me & my pops will start this weekend on planning and prepping the area. He has moderate carpentry, plumbing & electrical skills, i'm not too bad myself either. I will post pics of the tank & the area later.

I did a search but could not find threads of others putting tanks in walls, but I know they're out there, any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like it will be neat. Definitely post up pix of the progress. I believe Rallysman and Mosthated built their tanks as part of a wall. There was another project where someone put a tank in the wall, but I don't have that link.

Good luck.

ok, I have started on the wall & wanted to update you guys. so far I don't see any major issues that will stand in my way. I'm hoping to have the wall finished by the end of the weekend, the space behind where the tank will be is narrow so I will have to build the stand inside the area.

quick update on the project.: we removed the existing wall and instead of making a new stand we used the stand that came with the tank, putting the doors towards the closet opening. saves money and time.

my dad was a big help in the project. we will be doing something similar to his home in the near future.

the wall has been texturized and will be painted tomorrow, i will take pics afterwards. now its time to start on the set up, i have a 55gal tank that i will be using as a sump & a 48" power compact that i will try to hang of the main tank. I do have a small acrylic wet/dry that i wanted to use so I can drill through it to make auto top off system. is there a way to make this way
