I am getting a 135 gallon and I am thinking about getting the Fluval fx5. I will have 2 JD's , 1 Jag, 1 pleco.I might add a fish or two in the future (what would be a good additon). Is that enough filter?

Aquaclear AC-110 would be a good compliment to that tank. Best HOB, IMO

On my 55 gallon I have a Whisper power filter 60 that I was planning on using as well. Would that be okay?

Depends on your stock.

OP, IMO, a fx5 would work for that tank set up. But, I would also get a power head or two.

Perhaps I am that lone voice in the wilderness but I highly recommend the Marineland C-530 Cannister. Absolutely excellent, Comes with all media, a monster in the flow department, excellent Bio Filtration with huge baskets. Biggest prime button on the planet and very quiet.

Better Bio filtration capacity than the FX5, Great mechanical Filtration. And loading up the media baskets doesn't kill the flow. I call it the silver bullit. :)

Forgot to mention that you will save about 100 bucks in media because it's included, however ditch the bio balls and use Eheim Substrate Pro, keeps the flow, better bio filtration...
