I set up a new glass tank in my bedroom and set it up with two Oase 850 filters.
I just took a tank down that I was using a 40 gallon sump set up and the tank had a hood with egg crate type of cover.
Too much noise for the bedroom.
The filters are running the return to the surface but not splashing the water around.
Do I need an air pump ??? for good fish health/
I really don't want another item to fail or maintain, plus the noise, cost ect.
I spent way to much money and time so far. If I have to add a pump what brand is a good quality pump that is quite.

I've kept fish for over 40 years and a lot has changed so I thought this would be the place to ask ?
Thanks.

If you don't overstock the tank, then you wouldn't need an air pump. The canisters should be fine if you stock the tank correctly

If you want a silent air pump look at the Ehiem line. I used the 400 model on three different 125gal tanks. The bubbles make more noise than the pump itself. You have to use the emitters supplied, but they can be adjusted for both bubble size and amount of airflow.

Rocksor.
Mbuna tank. heavily stocked for the aggression levels.
The 180 I just broke down was a Tropheus tank. Same fish. Different lake. Kinda...
