The current stock in my 6', 135 gallon tank is a 4" EBJD, a baby senegal bichir, baby BGK, a 2" nic, a 2" rainbow cichlid, and four 2" heckellis, along with some glass barbs for dither. I also have a full grown pair of FM isolated to one side, which I'm getting rid of despite their bright colors due to extreme aggression.

My EBJD is really bright but also very shy, and the nic and rainbow are pretty dull, but maybe that's because their new and still young. So I'm looking to add another cichlid or two to really add some color, maybe orange/red, any suggestions?

orange or super red severum would give you the color your looking for and wouldnt be too aggressive...

how large do heckeliis get anyways? i think they are a larger growing geo so i would really only add one more med growing cichlid and that will be pushing it for the bio load, once the geos are grown and your ebjd is larger there will def be lots of color in the tank

I believe heckellis get up to 6-8", so not as large as some other geos, and thanks, I've seen some really nice red severum locally before, but haven't been able to find any recently. I'll keep looking.

nics dont really color up until the get 5-6"

you could always go with a blood parrot, most people stay away from them, but they def can add color to your tank

Your nic will color up well especially if it is a female. You could try a female salvini for more colour but it may be too aggressive- depends on the individual fish
