Hi all,

Sorry for the urgent thing but I'm against time on this project and this looked like the place for advice. The tank will be built on site this Saturday, the stand should be ready by then but i need to confirm what's the best material to use between stand and tank?

The tank is 96"W x 27"H x 31"D, 12mm glass with sliders + décor it should weigh just over 2 tonnes.
The stand is steel with adjustable legs as my house is on a slight tilt.

I don't think polystyrene will be strong enough to distribute the weight evenly enough.

As far as i know, which isn't much about these things, ply should be suitable but if so i have no idea of the thickness.
If not ply then marine ply maybe - but how thick?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

my 600G and 900G sit on 1 inch foam. No issue so far =) This lays flat on 3-5 beams.

I personally would just lay the foam without any wood etc. I have 2 tanks I did use wood but the stand is a pallet racking system resulting in the middle are being open seemed a bit risky to me. long as u have cross beams I cant see why you would need wood.

Thanks, the tank builder has recommended 18mm ply with 25mm polystyrene on top of that for the type of frame stand i'm using, should all be done by saturday.
